Cardiff Blues

So another coaching change announced.

It’s hard to remember how hard Cardiff RFC fought to remain as ‘stand alone’ in the move to regional rugby but they did and their actions – along with the Scarlets – arguably doomed the supporter acceptance of said regions before the process even started.

So in the many years since that day what has the capital club achieved? Why was it protected at the expense of alienating other supporter groups? In my memory we’ve won two Euro Challenge cups – a competition that only England and Wales seem to take seriously in the early rounds as there is no money in it – and one Anglo-Welsh. Domestic success in the Pro-14 and earlier variants has consistently eluded the club.

Now I am not arguing against a Cardiff side, the capital city and biggest catchment area has to have one, just asking why it has been consistently so poorly run?
