Brexit trivia

Saw this image “floating around” Facebook yesterday and it neatly sums up the rather isolated stance we are choosing to take as a nation. I think strictly the U.K. should be labelled as GB and then Northern Ireland would be alongside Turkey. I saw it the same day that a story broke concerning the government’s… Continue reading Brexit trivia

Walking

Yesterday’s walk was after a few days heavy rain so I stuck to the tarmac. I had hoped to explore the ridge of the mountain behind the Travellers Rest – you can see the little diversion – but the combination of mud and a rather dubious looking “private sign” put me off. I need to… Continue reading Walking

Joe Biden

Watching the inauguration and doubtless some will call the speech “political bollocks” and yes we have heard the one-nation talk in vain from U.K. politicos too, but it does genuinely feel like a breath of fresh air compared to the strife and division of the past four years. Here’s hoping……..

So today was our “bread and butter” walk, paved surface throughout and the one we do most just to get some fresh air! It’s about 6.38 km and burned 410Kal Time : 1:17:13 | Ave speed : 12.06 km/h

I didn’t have my phone on me to get the usual pretty map! My watch estimated I used 1,272KCal.… Continue reading A walk in the hills

Four crossings

So todays walk took me across the M4 four different times as I stuck to the (mostly) hard surface roads on what had the potential to be an icy day. The walk is a slightly longer version of one Sue and I have done many times since lockdown started and my phone reckons it is… Continue reading Four crossings

Residency rules

Rugby union’s international qualification rules have been a bit of a joke – don’t get me started on RL either – but surely van der Merwe’s transfer to Worcester RFC shows the sorry state of them for what they are. Spend three years in Scotland (or Eng/Ire/Wal) and become an “established international” for them at… Continue reading Residency rules

Cardiff Blues

So another coaching change announced. It’s hard to remember how hard Cardiff RFC fought to remain as ‘stand alone’ in the move to regional rugby but they did and their actions – along with the Scarlets – arguably doomed the supporter acceptance of said regions before the process even started. So in the many years… Continue reading Cardiff Blues
